As risky as an endeavor that this is, the ladies of BWB insist that it’s all in good fun, that the movement is intended to be taken as tongue-in-cheek humor, and that no one should take it as a shot to Beyoncé. In a sit-down interview with the ladies, they were quoted as saying “Everyone knows
that Bey is our sister and she’ll always be our sister. This is just our way of acknowledging the fact that we know what the general public thinks about all of us after the group split. We’re just taking that stigma and using it as a form of empowerment. Bey knows it’s nothing personal against her. People need to lighten up and laugh a little.”
Lance Pierson, BWB’s manager and long-time label A&R, went on the record stating “There is definitely power in numbers. Listen, we’d love to put together an official Destiny’s Child reunion but we know how busy Beyoncé is these days with her family and solo career. So, we put our heads together and came up with the idea for our current group model & name. Everyone was down for the concept and thankfully none of the ladies were tied up with prior commitments. You can definitely expect to hear great things from this group in the future. Keep your ears open.”
B*tches Without Beyoncé is currently together in Atlanta recording their debut album under the Columbia Records imprint. The self-titled album is set to release near the third or fourth quarter of 2014.
When asked for an official statement on the news, Beyoncé’s management gave no comment.
