UEFA- Real Madrid cruise into final after trashing Bayern Yesterday
Real Madrid simply turned on style at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night as they romped to a 0-4 win over Bayern Munich to secure their place in the finals of this year’s UEFA Champions League.
Two goals each from Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo was more than enough to see Madrid stay in the run for the coveted European football silverware while it meant the end of the road for defending champions Bayern.
Gareth Bale had the first real chance of the game after Manuel Neuer came off his line to head the ball away, but failed to clear the Welshman, but his finish went well high.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side did themselves a lot of good when in the 16th minute they were able to claim an away goal after Sergio Ramos nodded in a cross from Luka Modric.
Surprisingly, the defender added his second just four minutes later, heading in again after Pepe flicked the ball forward from an Angel di Maria free kick.
Ronaldo scored his 15th Champions League goal of the season later in the opening period following a counter-attack from Bale, who pulled the ball back for his teammate to fire past Neuer.
With the first half ending 0-3, it was already looking like a lost battle for the Germans who though mustered all they have got but just could not find the back of the net.
Instead it was Madrid who added to their tally as Ronaldo scored the fourth goal and increased his tally to 16 goals in the ongoing campaign.
Real will be without Xabi Alonso in the final, after he picked up a yellow card in the first half.
Indeed this is the heaviest defeat for Bayern Munich at home in the Champions League.
